West Side Story

One of Broadway's beautiful musicals in which a modern day Romeo and Juliet are involved in New York street gangs. On the harsh streets of the upper west side, two teenage gangs battle for control of the street. The situation becomes complicated when a gang member (Tony) falls madly in love with a rival's sister (Maria).

The American and Puerto Rican teenagers hate each other because they were brought up to look at each other as enemies. Riff (Leader of the American "Jets" gang) calls Bernardo (Leader of the Puerto Rican "Sharks" gang) for one final Rumble, a big fight, to see who will own the street.
Knowing how complicated their love could make things, Tony and Maria decide to stop the Rumble believing that "tonight" their love will change everything. Sadly enough, Hate gets in the way and turns the events of the story in a different direction.

"West Side Story" is a direct reflection of our world today. We fight each other because of our differences: nationalities, color, and religion… We reject each other before even trying to get to know and understand one another. We kill everyday; not with guns and knives but with hate!
"Why do you kill?

Why do you live like there is a war on?"
